Simon Lytle - 1950-2017

Last Updated on 01/04/18 By Tom Prefling

Simon passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 27th, 2017. He was born on April 23, 1950, in Missoula, Montana. His family moved to Arizona in August 1953. The kids went to school mostly in Tucson and the family went to Montana for the summers. He graduated from Catalina High School in 1968 and joined the U. S. Navy shortly after. Simon was a much-decorated veteran of the Vietnam War. He never said much about his accomplishments, but his family was very proud of him.

He is survived by five siblings: Sue Anne Korp, Randy Lytle, Nancy Hoopes, Pamela Greene, and Sarah Barcelo. He was predeceased by John Lytle and his parents: Benton and Cleo Lytle.

He also had many nieces and nephews. He had his beloved dog, Roscoe and cat, Sable. They have been taken in by family members.

Simon was a mechanic, and had a great love of hunting and fishing. He was a man who had some really good Labrador retrievers; he trained them to hunt with him, and it was as if they could talk to him and read his mind.

Simon had many friends at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 4903 and the Disabled American Veterans--Rincon Renegades Chapter 18. These were his buddies. He enjoyed both places and the camaraderie he felt there very much.
