My Story - Richard Blickenstaff

Vanetta and I were married in 1971 and she joined me on Guam for almost the whole 2 years. When we returned to Tucson I finished my degree and got a job teaching in Tucson Public Schools. I have taught band at all levels Elem. Jr. High and High School (Pueblo). I continued playing the trumpet and was a member of the Tucson Symphony for 8 years and was Principal Trumpet for the Arizona Opera Company for 18 years.

I recently retired from what is now called Tucson Unified School District and am teaching part time and working on my golf game. We have two children Rebecca 21 and Timothy 16 both learned to play band instruments and one (Bekki) is attending the Univ. of Arizona. Vanetta and I will celebrate our 33 rd anniversary this May. I hope to attend the next reunion I have not been to a single one . I am not really that anti social!

I have tried to be like a man I greatly admired - Carlyle Webb. I taught Band and loved music and performed it at a high level just like he did.
